The answer is that it depends upon your insurance company, but the typical standard is 1 year.

Reporting a loss promptly is a responsibility of your insurance policy.  As a prior insurance adjuster, I have never come across a situation where a hail claim was denied for not being turned in promptly.  But, when there are multiple hail dates involved because it has hailed multiple times on a roof, that does come into play.
