How to Pick a Roofer

New Harbor Roofing & Construction

How to pick a roofing company

You home is typically your biggest investment.  It should to be protected and maintained.  For whatever reason you are installing a new roof – may it be an insurance claim, a leak, age or selling your home, picking the contractor is crucial.

There are many factors that can be examined when evaluating different companies.  The most common attribute being examined is cost.

Cost

No one want to overpay and we all would like “a deal”.  Inflation is hitting all of us and we all need to make our resources stretch as far as they can and make sound financial decisions.  The cost of a roof is of course an important factor in choosing a contractor.

How Do We Compare?

Should you gather competitive bids, you will find that we are competitive and economical.  A main reason for this is that we keep our overhead expenses very low.  Bigger companies may have higher overhead expenses.  We also strive to create a relationship with you rather than securing one job.  We’d like to be your call if you have other construction needs in the future.

Reputation

Horror stories of contractors are impactful.  We have heard them too . . . sometimes we are called to fix them.  When looking for a contractor, word-of-mouth referral, on-line reviews and past experience play key components of picking a contractor.  None of us want to pay for service that is poor or falls short of expectations.  It is important to mention that “storm chasers” are companies that are not local to the area and they swarm a city after a large hail storm to collect some of the business.  There is nothing wrong with picking a non-local company.  We caution you to ask them how they handle call-backs and warranty.  Many storm chasers do not come back to fix something or honor a warranty down the road.  So, please make sure you ask what their policy is and having it in writing will protect you.

How Do We Compare?

Our company itself is new; that is a fact.  But, our knowledge and experience spans decades.  After COVID, New Harbor was founded under a new business model to provide quality craftsmanship to the consumer at a locally competitive price while balancing the personal lives of owners and employees.  Bigger companies have bigger expenses and therefore need to work longer hours, more profitable projects and quality of home life can suffer.  It’s makes sense that you haven’t heard of us, but that doesn’t mean we are “green” to the industry.  It simply means that the company is new.

Craftsmanship

After price, craftsmanship is arguably the second most important factor in picking a contractor.  Let me stress again that your home is a big investment.  Codes need to be followed, the correct application of trade materials is essential to quality work and to put it simply – it needs to look good and last.

How Do We Compare?

The component of craftsmanship is where we “hang our hat”, so to say.  We take extreme pride in our work and we are perfectionists.  We do not cut corners and with decades of trade specific skills, we can fix things aesthetically and structurally that elude others.  The toughest of jobs we view as a welcome challenge.  We also stand behind our work.  Not only do we offer warranty on full replacement trades, but we also offer warranty on repairs.  Again, we want to build along-lasting relationship with you.
